#a lot of people didn’t like this scene #because they thought it ignored vsa #but i think it’s a great recall to vsa #see in vsa when abed was in the locker #he didn’t expect annie to come #because she was kind of mid-epiphany about not loving jeff #and i don’t think abed ‘got it’ yet #he was upset about troy and britta together #and everyone pairing off and abandoning him #because he’s afraid he’s never going to pair off with anyone—except troy who left him for someone else #and okay then he gets trapped in another metaphorical locker #which is actually a real physical thing #and troy’s left him again for britta #BUT because annie already went to look for him when trapped inside #he knew troy would too#because annie told him that he’ll never be alone #and he believes her now #he knows that despite britta or whatever girls come after #troy loves him and they’re best friends and that’s that #idk i liked it and i think it showed some good growth and was a good mirror to vsa

I love Community. I love it for its epic Paintball and Dungeons & Dragons. I love it for its homages to Tarantino and Law & Order. I love it for its quirky meta humor and references to pop culture (many of which probably fly right over my head). I love it for its playful style. What other sitcom gives you a taste of anime, claymation, and 8-bit video games?
But at the end of the day and long after the final episode has aired, what I will carry with me are the beautiful characters. I will carry Abed, the detached observer who believed that his presence would only last as long as his usefulness, who discovered that someone was willing to open the metaphorical (or in the case of last night’s episode, literal) locker door.
This is some grade A storytelling here.
